The queens of Denmark have included a number of distinctive personalities, queens whose characters and whose fates have become significant features of Danish history. Because historical research has virtually ignored these women, the Koldinghus Museum has chosen to focus attention on Danish queens from the Viking period up to the Renaissance. With numerous illustrative artifacts, this exhibition emphasizes contemporary historical perceptions and the public presentation of these queens in the light of subsequent National Romantic attitudes. Includes a complete list of queens from the beginning of 900 until today and their lifespans in addition to a list of who they were married to and when.
