Allegro non troppo ma agitato ad ausioso This coupling of the well-known Grieg piano concerto with the rarely heard Szymanowski symphony makes sense when one realizes that the latter, in three movements, is subtitled "Sinfonia concertante" for piano and orchestra. Among the folk sources from which Szymanowski drew in the work was the vigorous fiddle music of the Tatra region of Poland. The pianist is a Chilean who has developed an international reputation and has recorded extensively for Arte Nova.
