BAROCKENS BOSTAD PÃ… LÄCKÓ “ SLOTT (The Baroque Quarters at Läckö Castle).

Author: Sjöberg, Lars and Josephine Brandt; Erik Cornelius, photos
Year: 1998
Country or State of Origin: Sweden

A picture book that captures the splendor of this castle during the 1600s. Stunning photographs display both the beauty of the empty castle rooms while also conjuring the former grandeur of these rooms by including examples of furniture and textiles from that period. Though the furniture was often simple in design, the elaborate textiles and decorative arts offset this simplicity to create a perfectly balanced elegance not to be rivaled elsewhere. This book is intended to complete this picture as the refurnishing of the Läckö Castle has begun with this exhibition. The catalog also includes an inventory of the art belonging to Duke Magnus Gabriel De la Gardie from 1681.

CONSPIRACY / KONSPIRATIONEN, THE.

Author: Bärtås, Magnus ed
Year: 1997
Country or State of Origin: Sweden

Magnus BärtÃ¥s states, “ œI believe that art, or rather the impulse to produce art, often comes from not understanding. When today, I look at humourous programmes on television and fail to laugh a single time, not even smile, I become obsessed with the question of why I do not think the programme funny when numerous other people do. Perhaps I do not belong to the target audience. Nor do I believe that there is a consensus about what is humour. But the thing is that in these cases there is no boundary zone. I can hardly understand this humour even theoretically. I am spurred on by this feeling of autism...[This was] the starting point for the exhibition The Conspiracy...: that the world at large had agreed to a treaty behind one’s back and that you want to communicate to the world around the appalling truth that you have discovered.

CRONQVIST, LENA - MÃ…LNINGAR 1964-1994 (Paintings 1964-1994).

Author: Lind, Ingela
Year: 1994
Country or State of Origin:

This impressive book consists of full-page, color reproductions of Lena Cronquist’s autobiographical, figurative , intense paintings over a span of 30 years, with a brief introductory text. They are strong and are all psychologically self-analytical; their drama and intrigue fascinate many. Cronquist is recognized as a major contemporary painter. Her paintings of herself and her sister as small girls manage to convey humor and lightheartedness, unlike her later work.

EDENFALK, BENGT.

Author: Stensman, Mailis
Year: 1994
Country or State of Origin: Sweden

This is one of the most beautiful books on the subject of glassmaking that you will ever see. It contains a selection of the work of Sweden’s master designer, Bengt Edenfalk, from his years first at Skruf and then at Kosta Glassworks, to examples of his private production since 1989. Of great interest are those pieces fashioned in the experimental “ œThalatta“ technique and its later applications with brilliant colors.
