VON SCHANTZ, PHILIP. Inte Bara Bär (Not Only Berries)
Author: Hökby, Nils-Göran
Year: 1993
Country or State of Origin: Sweden
“ ˜Not Only Berries’ refers to all of von Schantz’ work that is not the buckets of blue or red berries he is known (and loved) for - he has long years of production behind him and is a talented graphic artist as well as a painter. This is a biography covering the four decades from the 50s through the 80s. He has remained loyal to the traditional still life throughout his career, and these are always beautifully executed.

Von Spreckelsen, Jonathan Otto: LA GRANDE ARCHE.
Author: Robert Lion
Year: No Year
Country or State of Origin: Denmark
La Grande Arche crowns the historic axis of Paris, as if La Defense were its prow. One could sense even in the first draughts that Jonathan Otto von Spreckelsen, a barely known Danish architect, had by sheer force and purity conceived an exceptional gesture. We feel today that the monument will remain in history, after having marked the second French Revolution centenary. This is somewhat similar to the manner in which Gustave Eiffel’s work had illustrated in the first centenary. This book examines La Grande Arche with hfull page color photos and wonderful descriptions.

WACHTMEISTER, ULLA: PAINTINGS.
Author: Karin M.E. Alexis, Ph.D
Year: 1994
Country or State of Origin: Washington, D.C.
The painting of Wachtmeister is an exuberant poetry of bright color and semi-abstraction, with influences from Post-Impressionism, Matisse, and Picasso’s classical profiles and collage-like juxtapositions of color, shape, and pattern. These vibrant, sensual paintings reflect a distinctive joy in life. Wachtmeister has exhibited her work to great acclaim in both the U.S. and Europe.

WALL, JEFF: TABLEAUX .
Author: Woltmann, Marit
Year: 2004
Country or State of Origin: Norway
The Canadian artist (b.1946) has since the late 1970s worked with transparent photographs placed in illuminated advertisement display cases. In this exhibition the focus is on the art-historical connections in his work, where pointers to celebrated historical achievements in art are frequently in evidence. His photographs are often carefully staged like a scene in a film, with full control of all details. Their composition always well thought through, and often borrowed from classical painters like Edouard Manet. The themes are social and political, such as urban violence, racism, poverty, gender and class conflicts.

WARHOL CELEBRITIES.
Author: Hovdenakk, Per
Year: 1994
Country or State of Origin: Norway
In the 1960s, Andy Warhol was at the height of his success. It was during the period from 1962 to 1968 that he produced the pictures which, in a flash, revolutionized contemporary art and paved the way for pop art as the form of pictorial art most typical of the period and which, moreover, has subsequently retained its status as an icon of the consumer society and of the idolization quintessential to the worlds of media and advertizing. This book presents his most famous prints.

Wegman, William: FUNNEY / STRANGE.
Author: Simon, Joan
Year: 2006
Country or State of Origin: Connecticut
This fascinating book reveals the full range of William Wegman’s art. Beloved by the general public for signature photographs of his troupe of Weimaraners, Wegman is also an immensely important figure in the contemporary art world. A pioneer video-maker, conceptualist, performer, photographer, painter, draftsman, and writer, Wegman moves fluidly among various media: from conceptual works to commissioned magazine shots; from videos shown in museums to television segments made for Sesame Street and Saturday Night Live; from artist’s books parodying nineteenth-century naturalist studies to children’s books revealing tongue-in-cheek portraits of town and country life; from photographic “ œlandscapes“ employing his canine muses to his most recent cycle of landscapes combining found scenic souvenir postcards with drawing, collage, and painting. Underlying all his creations is the light humor of “ œfunny“ mediating the darker human comedy of “ œstrange.“ Speaking to the absurdities of daily life, Wegman’s work is universally appealing. Funny/Strange is the first retrospective volume to consider the artist’s entire career from the 1960s to the 2000s and is an essential book for any fan of Wegman’s work. Includes complete exhibition history. Descriptions of all films and videos.

WEIHRAUCH, SVEND - SØLV/SILBER 1928-1956 (Silver). En Dansk Funktionalist/ Ein Dänischer Funktionalist (A Danish Functionalist)
Author: Schwandt, Jörg
Year: 1998
Country or State of Origin: Denmark
As the sole designer at the Frantz Hingelberg Silversmith’s company in Århus, Denmark, Weihrauch (1899-1962) established himself as a renowned and prolific functionalist, largely due to his early use of rationalized production techniques. In his 28 years at Hingelberg’s, he drafted almost 4,500 designs for hollowware, cutlery and jewelry - almost all of which were produced. Though his work varied throughout the years, it is largely characterized by the use of simplistic forms, incorporating organic elements, while also allowing the technical process to reveal itself in the final product.
