CULTURE AND CHANGE IN CENTRAL EUROPEAN PREHISTORY. 6TH TO 1ST MILLENNIUM BC
Author: Vandkilde, Helle
Year: 2007
Country or State of Origin: Denmark
This book is a cohesive overview of Central European prehistory from the introduction of agriculture around 6000 BC to the state-forming processes that began to emerge during the first millennium BC. A complex mosaic of culture, society and processes is mirrored in the material world in certain periods involves a large part of the Eurasian continent. Culture and change must be understood as both localized and macro-regional: this book is a cultural-historical tale - inspired by, for example, the attempts of French historians to integrate different levels of history.

GENOESE DRAWINGS.
Author: Schleier, Mary Newcome
Year: 2004
Country or State of Origin: Denmark
The collection of Old Master drawings from the Genoese school in the Department of Prints and Drawings at the Statens Museum for Kunst in Copenhagen have lived an obscure life in the collection’s Solander boxes. Few of them have ever been published and only one has been shown to the public within living momory. Although small, the collection (and consequently this catalogue) spans the entire period of the Genoese Republic, from 1528 to 1797 when it became the Republic of Ligurua, and then part of Italy (1815). The collection embraces a wide range of master drawings by the founders of the Genoese school - the famous Luca Cambiaso and his pupils Lazaro Tavarone, Bernardo Castello and Giovanni Battista Paggi. It contains rare examples of the graceful and charming drawings by Valerio Castello, and a number of fully developed compositional studies by Domenico Piola and his thriving studio. Masters like Bartolomeo Biscaino, Domenico Fiasella, Alessandro Magnasco, Francesco Castiglione, Lorenzo de Ferrari, Carlo Giuseppe Ratti and Francesco Narice are also represented.

ORANGE: Golden Joy.
Author: Train, John. Photography by Mark E. Smith
Year: 2006
Country or State of Origin: Massachusetts
This fascinating book tells the story of citrus fruits from earliest times. Brought back from India by Alexander the Great, citrus proved to be a lifesaver on sea voyages, since it was the antidote for scurvy. Columbus took it to the new world. The Italians, French and Spaniards made the citrus plants a centerpiece of their castles, monasteries and cities. Citrus fruit was also used for cosmetics, perfumes, confections, and liqueurs. A beautiful book, so sumpteously illustrated.

ROMAN IMPERIAL STATUE BASES. from Augustus to Commodus
Author: Højte, Jakob Munk
Year: 2005
Country or State of Origin: Denmark
This book offers extensive studies of who was commemorated, where, when, and why, by surveying the bases the purloined images stood upon. The reason the bases are studied is due to the fact that most Roman imperial statues were made of bronze which was melted down at the first opportunity to sell for the valuable scrap metal. This book draws upon 2,300 known bases from nearly 800 sites. Højte takes a look at the geographical distribution, statues dedicated before and after a reign, occasions for statue erections, and dedicators. The study presented here is an expansion on Højte’s 2001 Ph.D. dissertation for the University of Aarhus.
