ANNIKA VON HAUSSWOLFF: DOMESTIC SCULPTURE 1999-2003.

Author: Zeipel, Agneta Von, Curator
Year: 2004
Country or State of Origin: Sweden

In the 1990s and thereafter Annika von Hausswolff became established as one of the leading figures in Swedish and Scandinavian contemporary art. Many of her photographic works have already become classics. She is one of the Swedish artists who has received most notice internationally in recent years and she has represented Sweden at several major exhibitions including the Venice Biennial in 1999. She belongs to a generation of young, women artists who have used photographic images conceptually with a clear gender perspective and a critically analytical approach. The exhibition comprises almost 50 works and this makes it one of the larger shows of her work to be presented in recent years.

Ataman: KUTLUGATAMAN. Long Streams

Author: Gade, Rune & Laura Hoptman
Year: 2002
Country or State of Origin: Denmark

This is the first time that so many of Ataman’s works are exhibited together. Atman was born in Turkey and now lives in London. He concentrates on the question of identity, the construction of the subject. The “ œlong streams“ , from which this exhibition takes place, have manifested themselves from Ataman’s very first work in the genre of visual art, i.e., in his almost eight-hour-long film, in which the more than 90-year-old Turkish opera singer, Semiha Berksoy, recalls and re-enacts scenes from her life, which spans the whole of Turkey’s modern history.

AVANTGARDE 1910-1921. RUSSIAN AND SOVIET ART FROM THE SVERDLOVSK ART GALLERY COLLECTION

Author: Vuorikoski, Timo ed
Year: No Year
Country or State of Origin: Finland

This exhibition features works by Russian avant-garde artists from the 1910’s through 1921. The works of the post-revolutionary experimental art period reflect a variety of movements, trends, and creative talent. In the work of Russian avant-garde artists, form no longer had to relate to the visual image of a real object. Some of the artists included in this exhibition are Kasimir Malevich, and Vasily Kansinsky, Mikhail Larionov, Aleksander Kuprin, Aleksandr Ivanov and many more. This handsomely produced book will delight art lovers while at the same time providing an insight into Russian art during this period.
