GLOB OG PARADISETS HAVE/ GLOB AND THE GARDEN OF EDEN . Den Danske Ekspeditioner til Den Arabiske Golf/ The Danish Expeditions to the Arabian Gulf
Author: Højlund, Flemming
Year: 1999
Country or State of Origin: Denmark
The Danish expeditions to the sheikdoms along the Arabian Gulf were started in 1953 by Professor P.V. Glob. Year after year, archaeologists, ethnographers, architects, filmmakers, and artists traveled to the Gulf to investigate the culture and history of the area. From the sand, emerged vanished cities and temples of a 4,000-year-old civilization in the ancient land of Dilmun, which according to the myths was the Garden of Eden. An exquisite collection of photographs documents the unveiling of this mythic paradise.

ILLERUP ÅDAL (Illerup River Valley). Archaeology as a Magic Mirror
Author: Ilkjær, Jorgen
Year: 2000
Country or State of Origin: Denmark
At the same time that Emperor Septimius Severus was ordering the building of his triumphal arch in Rome, around 203 AD, a large fleet from Norway sailed through Kattegat. Nithijo, Wagnijo, Swarta and 1000 other warriors attacked Eastern Jutland, but were decisively defeated. This book gives an account of the excavation and the detailed studies arising from one of the most impressive archaeological finds of our time, and the reader gains an insight into previously unknown and very surprising aspects of life in the Iron Age.

PANSKOYE I. The Monumental Building U6 (2 Volumes Text and Plates))
Author: Hannestad, Lise, Vladimir F. Stolba, Alexander N. Sceglov, eds
Year: 2002
Country or State of Origin: Denmark
This is the first volume of the complete publication on Panskoye I, a rural settlment in North-Western Crimea dating from the period ca 400-270 B.C. Panskoye was founded by the city of Olbia, but half a century later its fortress was destroyed and the settlement subordinated to another Greek city, Chersonesos. After the incorporation of Panskoye into the chora of Cheronesos, a monumental building, known to the excavators as U6, was erected at Panskoye. This building provides invaluable archaeological information thanks to the unique combination of a very precise date with rich finds of sculpture, pottery, lamps, terracottas, coins, metals, stone and glass objects, and inscriptions. This comprehensive publication of the material from this building offers an extroadinary insight into the important issues in ancient history and classical archaeology: A Greek city’s exploitation of its territory and the interaction between Greek settlers and local tribes-in this case the Scythians and the Taurians.
