DAHL-JENSEN PORCELAIN FIGURINES 1897-1985.
Author: Pope, Caroline & Nick
Year: 2003
Country or State of Origin: Pennsylvania
Lovely Danish porcelain figurines by the Dahl-Jensen company are showcased in this first and superb reference for collectors. This celebrated designer worked for the Bing & Grøndahl company before founding his own firm in 1925. He modeled new sculptures, particularly creating a wonderful series representing models from the Far East, which he produced as figurines in the early days of the company’s growth. Later, he acquired the works of other artists to enlarge the model collection. Of the almost 400 figurines the factory produced, Dahl-Jensen himself sculpted about 280.

DEENSE KERAMIEK/ DANISH CERAMICS. Museum Boymans-van Beuningen (Boymans-van Beuningen Museum) Collected 1970-1995
Author: Elizabeth Gomperts, translator
Year: 1995
Country or State of Origin: Holland
This collection of contemporary Danish ceramics concentrates on the work of four potters, Gertrud Vasegaard, Gutte Eriksen, Alev Siesbye-Ebüzziya and Bodil Manz. Several other ceramicists are featured in the collection of Boymans-van Beuningen Museum which focuses on the “ œcontainer“ form, objects that had an obvious function or bore a hint of the storage function. The unique pieces of Vasegaard are known for their glazes and decorations while Bodil Manz’s talent is taking conventional objects of use and designing them in unconventional forms. The text compliments this beautifully illustrated collection.
